Amendment to the Indian Constitution done 98 times.
To say that Article 370, is something,, which is inflexible and cannot be amended, is to misinterpret the Constitution. Incidentally, Indian Constitution has been amended from 1951 to 2013 for 98 Times. The Indian Parliament is Supreme, like the British Parliament, about which, it is said that it can pass any law except to make a man a woman and vice versa.

Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat's tough statement warning trouble makers in Kashmir to desist from obstructing operations by his troops or else face the consequences has evoked expected reactions.

There was one section–and I don't want to call them intellectuals–which pays lip service to the fauj but in reality stands against everything that the army seeks to protect and defend. This group has variously dubbed the Army Chief's remark as 'intemperate statement,' 'belligerent stand,' and 'declaration of war against Kashmiri youth.'

The tax helpline of Cleartax hasn't stopped ringing since 9 November when Indians woke up to demonetisation of `500 and `1,000 notes. "People are calling up to know how they can declare the cash they hold without incurring a tax liability," says Archit Gupta, Founder and CEO of the tax filing portal.
Tax professionals say that honest taxpayers have nothing to fear. "If you have `500 and `1,000 notes lying with you, there is no reason to panic if you can explain the source of cash," says tax and investment expert Balwant Jain. You can go and deposit it in your bank or exchange it for new notes. But, as tax officials have warned, the cash you deposit in the bank must match the income declared in your tax return. "We would get the details of accounts in which more than `2.5 lakh have been deposited. Any mismatch with income declared by the account holder will be treated as a case of tax evasion," Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia warned.

The day we joined the academy, we were told to take pride in the fact that we had opted for the noblest profession in the world – the profession of arms that ensures security of our country. We were also counselled that soldiering was a package deal with its minuses and pluses. The minuses exist due to the exigencies of service (threat to life, hardships, frequent transfers, separations and so on) and these have to be endured. However, the pluses outweigh the minuses by a huge margin: organisational cohesion being the most crucial one as it facilitates development of life-long bonds, both social and emotional.

NAURANANG DAY

         Today , the 17th October, is celebrated by the Indian Army as the *Nuranang day* when a handful of brave men beat back three PLA attacks,before being betrayed and martyred. This is the story of Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat - Mahavir Chakra(P) also known as the "ghost who keeps vigil on the border of china"

Rifleman (RFN) Jaswant Singh, number 4039009, was serving with the 4th Battalion of the Garhwal Rifles. On 17 November the battalion was subjected to repeated Chinese assaults. A Chinese medium machine gun (MMG) located at a vantage point close to the A company lines was proving to be a dangerous menace. Jaswant, Lance Naik Trilok Singh Negi and RFN Gopal Singh Gusain went after the Chinese MMG and after approaching within 12 metres threw grenades at the bunker and charged it, killing a number of Chinese and capturing the MMG. Jaswant took the MMG and began crawling back towards the Indian lines but he and Trilok were fatally hit by Chinese automatic fire when nearing safety. Gopal Gusain was wounded but managed to drag the MMG into the Indian post.

It is not an old age home

When you buy a Senior Living property, you own it completely and legally. You can pass it on to your heirs. Flats can also be made available on rent if the property owner decides so. These homes are offered on both freehold and lease basis.

The society is equipped with many medical facilities like 24×7 ambulance service, physiotherapy, a round-the-clock nurse and OPD (out-patient department) service, among others. Yet it does not have the feel of a nursing home – something that distinctly separates it from an old age home.

PUNE: It was the month of November 1971. War was imminent and the forces were being mobilised at a frenetic pace. Troops and equipment were being ferried to the forward areas by tens of special military trains every day. For the Westerns sector, Ambala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar were the main hubs as almost all trains passed through these stations.

One still recalls the warm reception the troops got at these stations. Hordes of BJP and RSS workers received the trains with shouts of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. Local bands were in attendance playing martial music. The atmosphere was charged with nationalist fervour. Troops were treated with tremendous warmth; honoured with garlands; served hot food and tea; and assured of the whole country's support.

Every day, on my way to work, I go past the headquarters of the Madras Sappers in Bengaluru. A tank in desert camouflage is at the gate, its cannon overlooking the pretty Ulsoor Lake. I'd like to row on it but civilians are forbidden. On the lake are little rock islands on the walls of which are painted the names of great Sappers victories, like Assaye Ganj.
